Long Exposures

i tried doing some long exposures of the moon, these are some of the shot i ended up with. they are not edited yet but i might later on photoshop too boost the contrast.

Poster Art

Work In Progress

this is my first attempt at poster art. i think its alright but im not totally happy with it. its still work in progress and i will post later with a better finished product.

How i did it?

firstly i used to selcetion tool to select the images i wanted to manipulate. then i desaturated the images to make them black and white. after this i altered the levels of the pictures so that they look bleached out. to bring out there features i used the burn tool to darken facial features and lines of the buildings and background. then using the dodge tool i got rid of the grey bits on the images so that the features stand out a bit more and it looks slightly cartoony. then after these processes use the stamp filter to finish the images off. then i layered the images to produce just one image. i added different colours to each image using the filt tool and chaing the opacity to 50% so you can still see the dark lines that i made witht the burn tool

Outcome

the outcome is a picture which looks cartoony, its called poster art and i think its pretty cool. i will rty experimenting with this in my work and see if i can get other and differnt effects.

My Topic

for my topic i am exploring experimental photography

i am going to do a series of experiments trying out different photogrphic techniques.

some of these techniques will be
-photomontaging
-solarization
-pinhole cameras
-ttv (throught the viewfinder)
-double film exposures
-fish eye lense/lomo
-holgashop (multiple exposures)
-photograms

then i will try and bring all these techniques together to create a final piece of work.



An example of some of the images i am going to try and re create can be found on Chris Keeneys flickr Photostream (http://www.flickr.com/photos/ck3/sets/). he is the main photographer im looking at because he specializes in experimental techniques and i find his work so intersting and different to normal photography with a digital camera. i enjoy using darkroom techniques and fiml photography rather than modern digita photogrpahy.
